•• I've been looking in the mirror for so long •• ************
It was a lazy Saturday everyone was in various parts of the castle or off on the grounds doing their own thing. Everyone had something they were doing. As always when she wasn't with her friends the young Gryffindor was up stairs in the ClockTower. She'd gotten her classwork done. Including what she'd missed the day she skipped. Marlene was done and actually ahead. Lily would be happy.. Marlene was happy. So with no classwork to do, a Gryffindor left alone to their own devices would always get into trouble.
Marlene stood in the tower holding a book, Ancient Transfiguration : For the Advanced. She found it on Lily's bed earlier that morning. The large leather bound book had caught her eye. So now there she was trying to master a spell that was beyond her years, turning a person into an animal. Sighing she closed her eyes trying to clear her head. Opening her gray-blue eyes she looked up at the bats asleep in hanging from the rafters. Regit was on the floor curled up asleep. Smiling lightly, Marlene looked back at the book she held in her hands. Pulling her wand from behind her ear. Muttering the incantation again, still nothing. Grumbling under her breath she sighed. Maybe it couldn't be done, or at least by her. She'd been at this for nearly an hour with not even a flicker of sucess. Sighing she slammed the book shut shoving it under her arm. Pointing her wand at herself once more she closed her eyes and muttered the spell. There was a flash of light an a strange sensation washed over her. The book fell to the ground with a thud, bats squeaked in alarm. Regit mewed jumping from his sleep looking around. Standing he walked to the book sniffing at it then at the pile of clothes. It moved and he jumped back hissing. A head poped out. The fur matching Marlene's hair to a tee, even with her gray-blue eyes and single peircing in her right ear near the top. Marlene smiled a feline smile an jumped out pouncing on Regit. He tumbled with her shocked. Not recognizeing 'his girl'. Please with herself ran on all fours out the door an down the steps of the ClockTower. Regit blinked confused following her.
The pair raced down the steps through the halls. Reaching the moving staircase Marlene smiled a little. Usually when it moved it scared her. But she'd land on her feet right? Running at full speed up the staircase as it moved upward, at the end she lept off. A meow sounding far to much like a laugh escaped her. She landed on the other side of the gap before the staircase had even come to rest there. Regit mewed on the opposite side. Marlene meowed at him something sort of calling him chicken then ran off. Regit ran down the stairs catching up to her as she made her way out into the grounds. They played chase, caught a mouse. Marlene even gave up her vegetarian ways to try it. That didn't go well. Nasty! Regit had caught the mouse. Marlene instantly felt sorry for that an for eating it.. well licking at it. She didn't get far. Regit kept chasing her after that. It was fun at first but now..
....
That had been a few hours ago now. Marlene had since made her way back up to the ClockTower, standing over her book she'd some how managed to paw open and to the write page she tried to read for the reversal spell... wand required. Great how as she supposed to hold a wand and say the spell? Half frantic now tired and hungry. Plus Regit had taken an 'unwelcome' shine to her more than once. Swatting him away once more she hissed telling him off. She had to find Lily she'd know what to do. She'd likely get a scolding but there had to be away to fix this. Lily was smart!
Regit jumped her from behind nipping at her neck. Marlene hissed throwing him off and ran away from him. She was running from her cat. Merlin help her.. Heading to the common room she tried to get in. That took a bit, she'd had to wait on another student and snuck into the Gryffindor common room then. Running up stairs to the dorms. Lily wasn't there, sighing she made her way back out, glad very few were in the common room today, so she wasn't noticed walking back out the door she rolled her eyes at the Fat Lady as she spoke to her. Marlene hissed she started to run when Regit attacked her again. Growling she threw him off once more. Finally after nearly an hour trying to find Lily she decided to go one last place. Myrtle's Bathroom. Marlene's last resort was McGonagall. She was sure to get detention for life messing with spells beyond her years. Not to mention the book she'd gotten it from was from the Restricted Section. Sighing she padded into the bathroom. She mewed loudly calling out hoping some Lily was in here. Regit entered too jumping her, hissing she pulled free an ran. Crying out loudly mewing desperate enough now she hoped for anyone.

SHE SAID WE GOTTA HOLD ON TO WHAT WE GOTIT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERANCE IF WE MAKE IT OR NOT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was Saturday and it was a good one, there was no extra work to do she could relaxe she could take a bubble bath and maybe just maybe sort through all the patterns her mother had sent her. She discarded this idea leaving them spread out across the foot of her bed. She'd throw darts or something at them later, maybe. She suspected if she would up with teal and hot pink they'd known she put no thought into it. She wasn't going into Hogsmeade until later that evening. Still she and Severus were most often together. It seemed he'd been sent the same things she had. So stuffed in her bag along with a book of Poetry, there notes for spell creation and she was looking foward to having a relaxing evening. She didn't feel like studying at the moment she just wanted to relaxe. So she had met Severus at Myrtles bathroom where they could both talk to her. She was sweet, morbid but sweet. She was going to miss them when they were gone because they'd not be there anymore and she always would be.
Lily could have gone outside to play in the snow but even little miss seasons was growing weary of the weather. It seemed anytime she tried to get out and into the Forest the sky dumped a bucket of snow on her. Often leading to a not so amused Severus wrapping his warm not wet cloak around her drenched form. Lily really was begining to wonder if she'd made some weather deity mad. If there would be flowers again, she missed the color. However none of that was bothering her at the moment lounging in the tub, listening to Severus read from the book he had.He often sat leaned against the warm tub. Lily would absently play with his hair when he did. She was sunk down into the bubbled so barely her shoulders and head were above the water and bubbles, and her toes peeked out. One hand idly brushing along where the back of Severus's hair feathered. She might have been more than half asleep was why she had a instant reaction to the sound of pawed feet. Dear Gods, they had been caught by Mrs.Norris again. her eyes snapped open and Lily shifted her position sitting strait up her wet hair pooled around her when she realized the cry was upset and plantive, not warning and mean.
Bloody hell." she breathed and placed her hand on her chest for a second and squinted who's cat was that anyways ? It was odd looking. Regit she recognized right away. The heart that had been about to pound out of her chest was slowing to a dull aching thump. She motioned with her hand. Accio Wand." her willow wand spun to her hand and she tsked. Shame on you Regit, that could be someones familiar." she scolded the kitten and when he jumped on the girl cat again, she took the advantage to step out of the tub and pull on her robe. "Sorry she murmured to Severus for dripping on him. She pushed her hair back and let it pool behind her. This was a common thing and Lily wasn't shy of her figure. She wasn't hidious to look at. She knew for a fact she'd once asked. She shook her head at the fact Marley's cat seemed to have lost his ever loving mind. Her wand snapping "Levicorpus." she said softly but clearly. Quiet a sight standing there dripping in a robe with just a wand. Lily to say the least wasn't very amused. As the kitten was lifted and flipped into the air, Regit looked shocked. She would too but she couldn't have it jumping on someone else. And where did the scent of candy come from ? "You'd think the one day I take off to spend with you, the bottom would fall out of sanity." she said to Severus. Her brows drawn together as she let out a soft sigh. Her lips pressed. She was able to get a better look at the female cat that had been being pounced with the culprit dangling in the air. Her wand tucked back behind her ear. "Thats rather odd, I don't recall any cat that colored." she said giving herself pause. if Mrs.Norris heard them they would all be in trouble. She could just imagine her Head of Houses view on dangling kitties. Especially by her Head Girl. Lily sighed looking somewhat at a loss to the dark haired young man with her. "Make any sense of this madness ?" she asked as she tried to coax the Marley colored kitty closer to her. She had a sinking feeling she shouldn't have left that book on Advanced Transfigurations out on her bed. A small girl except when she was angry Lily had a grow unrest settling about her.
She had a mewling Regit, A urgently mewing Marley kitty she suspected, a none to amused fiancee she was betting and she was again soaking wet in a Robe because she had to exit her bath all to fast.

WALK BLINDLY TO THE LIGHT and reach out for his hand .don't ask any questionsAND DON"T TRY TO UNDERSTAND• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • It was just another Saturday in Hogwarts. Students were pursuing their own endeavours, Professors were taking their well earned breaks, other than patrolling the halls now and again, and Severus was reading to Lily…and a ghost that would always be a teenage girl. Not that there was anything to complain about on that score, he was currently using one of the fabrics Rose and Eileen had sent him as a bookmark. They had stowed away in his bag, they might as well be useful. He suspected his mother’s hand in that. Severus was going to miss Myrtle, that was something that he could not deny, she was a sweet girl, he suspected he knew how she had met her end, possibly more than she did, but it was only suspicion, so he did the best he could otherwise, simply be her friend.
It was somewhat surprising that even Lily had met her match with the weather, she was one who would be more likely out there in it the worse that it was, but even she had her limits. Something that Severus supposed he ought to be thankful for given that even he only had so many swishy cloaks without having to trouble a house elf. It was a regular routine, and not one that McGonagall had been able to quell, Lily relaxing in the bath while she and Severus studied or read. There was no harm in it, the two of them were mature students, Severus had always respected Lily, the two of them loved each other rather than lusted after each other, they were certainly not going to do anything inside of the school they would not want around it the next day. He had not been paying so much attention to what he was reading, nor to Lily’s stroking of his hair as relaxing as it was, that he did not hear the footfall of paws and to say that he had for a moment thought there was more trouble coming was understated to say the very least, though a strong smell of candy gave him pause before casting protective spells.
He cast a baleful gaze over Regit, “That was not amusing.” It did not quite have the iciness that would make the first and second years go running, but it was clear that he was not quite amused. He glanced at Regit’s companion, noting that there was just a little something…He spoke to himself for a moment though it might just have been heard, “I jest to Oberon and make him smile when I a fat bean-fed horse beguile, neighing in likeness of a filly foal.” He shrugged as Lily apologised, reaching up to squeeze her hand before standing himself. He had always looked away when Lily had undressed for the bath, after a bad day she had asked him if she were hideous to look at and he had put that idea to bed, she knew she had no reason to be self conscious. He gave Regit a scratch to reassure the feline as much as could be achieved, “I do hope your dear Head of House doesn’t see this.”
He shook his head ruefully, “Well when we are the only people trying to keep that bottom in place, I suppose someone is going to be an ass when we take a day off.” He had an idea that it was a student and there were few he could think of if they were people that the student knew. He was a little concerned about Regit being dangled also, it had been bad enough when they had merely been consorting in an inappropriate place, kitty torture would not go down well to say the very least. Severus tucked his hands into his sleeves as he considered, “By the colouring and the general smell of enough candy to give any mere human sugarshock, someone has been in books that she ought not to be reading.” Looking to the cat, he added, “Good afternoon, Ms. McKinnon.”
Ah well, at least they hadn’t beenc aught by people who didn’t buy that only homework had happened in here…yet.

•• I've been looking in the mirror for so long •• ************
Any Saturday where there was no class work that had to be done was a good one. Even better when all class work was done. Marlene was please with herself. It meant quite simply that she didn't have to care. She could lounge in the ClockTower or sprawl out on her bed. She'd been there and done that, it got boreing. So with the borrowed book in her postion she'd looked through it. The one time she didn't ask permission it got her into trouble, she was sure of it. But at first, after she'd changed it'd been fun. Quickly though when she realized Regit had 'other things' on his mind an she was hungry it was time to change back, but unable to change back it scared her. So she'd gone to her best friend. Hoping she could help. Knowing she could, her and Severus were smart and well skilled in their art. She just hoped neither would be mad at her for messing with a spell that was beyond her years.
Marlene had played in the snow, chasing the snowflakes and Regit. It was amusing seeing him pounce at them, and having the desire to pounce on them too. That lasted for a time until the mouse caught it. Regit pounced on it an Marlene nearly got ill at the thought of it all. That had ended pretty quickly their out door games. Especially after Regit had presented her with the mouse. Marlene sniffed at it licking the fur lighlty but made a face at the blood taste on her tongue. It was over, an Regit was chasing her. Scared, confused and wet she just wanted to be human again. When she'd came running into the bathroom she hadn't seen Lily and Severus yet, but they had to be here. She'd looked everywhere else.
Lily cursed a bit Marlene jumped back, her gray-blue eyes wide in fear Regit jumped at her again, and she rolled over hissing at him raking a clawed paw across his face. Regit mewed at her, trying to jump at her again. Marlene felt ill. Her own cat liked her. Swating at him again when he nipped her neck. She hissed bitterly her fur frizzing out all around her. Marlene meowed at Lily rolling over made a move towards her, but her paw fell in a puddle. Shaking it bitterly it was cold and wet. As Lily lifted Regit off her Marlene sighed in releif but felt bad for Regit. The kitten was meowing frantically pawing at the air for anything to grip a hold of. Regit he hissed at Severus not amused in the least. Marlene crept slowly closer to Lily her tail between her legs. The even present smell of candy and sugar was almost always lingering on Marlene's tongue. She always had sweets stashed away in her bag. Or was forever sucking on a caramel or eating Bertie Bots Every Flavor Beans. Regit swated at Severus as he danged there, begging to be put down.
Squirming down where she stood Marlene hid her head under her paws. She ruined her best friends fun being curious.. the old sayings did hold true about Gryffindors and cats. Mewing softly she peaked through her paws at Lily, she meowed again softly. As if trying to say Lily.. its me.. Marley.. I'm sorry. but her voice only came out in meows, and even she wasn't sure what she'd said. Marlene looked up at Lily and Severus with pitifiul sad eyes. Lily tried to coax her over. On all fours with her stomach low to the ground she finally moved towards her friend.
Hesitating fianlly she closed the gap between them and all but crawled into Lily's arms, clinging to her robes. When Severus called her out her ears lowered on her head. He spoke sounding just like a professor then. She squeaked out a 'hi' waving a paw at Severus, but still snuggled deeper into Lily's robe trying to hide.

SHE SAID WE GOTTA HOLD ON TO WHAT WE GOTIT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERANCE IF WE MAKE IT OR NOT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been Lily's opinion that at least the fabric was being useful as a book mark. She knew it was nineteen seventy nine, but some of those colors they were sent was just..dreadful in short. Sunshine yellow ? pea green ? Lily also wanted to know who named these colors and what rock they had been living under for the past say ohh five years. So she had given into the urge to go soak. That she and Severus could spend a little time with Myrtle who was widely forgotten by the majority of Hogwarts was nice. Even if she was curious if they were really getting married, weren't the Houses upset, and a trail of other questions that had died away when Lily had dunked herself under the water. Since she knew questioning Severus would be like talking to a break wall unless you were herself, her mother or his own. Lily had an O in care of magical creatures and she knew his thoughts on that. It all pointed to that since Myrtle hadn't heard anyone and no one had seen anything. Lily couldn't begin to wonder how something like that could have gotten into the Castle. Lily had leaned her head back against the round tub he was reading them a midsummers nights dream.
She had found her match in the weather when she'd gone out to get some fresh flowers from the forest and had a pile of snow just dumped on her. So an hour or so later found her sitting in the room of Requirements with a large blanket wrapped around her. That much Snow in so much time was sad. Lily liked snowy weather as much as the next person, but it was so gray outside because of it. It made her the only color in the yard and thus a target of well snowballs. Still she was okay with that since she'd learned Severus's trick with answering unwanted snowball fights. Lily still had in her possession one of Severus swishy cloaks, she also had one of his robes and a shirt. The boy was lucky to have clothes she supposed in view of how she simply borrowed and forgot to give back. Than again she slept in his shirt when she was alone in her Dorm room, it made her feel closer to him. That was the reason behind it. She kept the robe because she hadn't thought to give it back, and the cloak was still drapped on a peg of her closet.Lily suspected deep down it was that old prejudice about Gryffindor students mingling with Slytherin the opposites. This was very true Lily was the opposite of her Prince, she was social, popular and tempermental. He was almost anti social, popular in his own circles but not in general and forced himself into a level of control grown men did not possess. He was also the practical one while she was a romantic, led by her heart while he was led by his mind. Still they worked out because they kept each other grounded. That Lily wore her hair longer than normal and liked the old fashioned way of getting it clean was often there so she needed the extra pair of hands. They were well behaved especially in Myrtle's bathroom because that would be disrespectful to Myrtle to actually do anything too intimate.Lily liked the way his hair feathered in the back and made no excuse for brushing her fingers along it, even if it made Myrtle giggle she stopped when Severus began to read. He certainly had the voice for it..
The arrival of the two cats had caused Lily to move quickly and suddenly mostly because the Head of her Houses office was just down the hall. Regit hissed at Severus wasn't winning the cat any points with the increasingly irritated red head. She didn't drop her spell, she left it to Severus if he wanted to let the fizzing fuzz ball down. Lily heard the line and whispered back Lord, what fools these mortals be she was quickly dressing the wand again behind her ear the robe wrapped around her. Even Lily with sweetness had her bitter days, and that was one of them. it was the days she was pressured a bit much by Potter, who liked to play on her few insecurities. Though Lily would not given him fodder for his war. If he wanted to fight with Severus it would be without her help. They had, had a private war for years. They suspected she didn't know, Lily knew..she was just beside herself about how to stop it. She had hoped fifth year by her choosing it would have ended. Still his way of putting to bed her fears was to hold her and whisper to her softly. When he had protested about wet clothes, she'd pointed out he could always have left them outside the bath, and made the poor boy turn pink. She had that effect on him."Me either, and not only because I am dangling a cat." she murmured. Shooting a look to the other cat that was creeping through the water puddles cast by her fast exit from the bath.
Lily was dressed in a light chemise the type she might wear in summer by the time the cat had gotten to her. She tipped her head at Severus's words and might have smiled abou the sugar shock comment had she been of a mind to actually comment. Her green eyes narrowed. "Obviously" she murmured and shook her head. "I think I've a charm for speaking with animals." she informed him as she ran through the spells in her head. There were many of them, and some were specific to situations. She knew just how in deep they were, they were consorting in a place they'd been told not to be caught again. She was dangling a kitty, and Myrtle was looking confused but amused hovering above them. Since the story had been interupted. "Morgana! you were casting from the book on my bed ?" she breathed softly her hand coming to rest over her eyes. She had been looking un Animagus's to see if she could teach Andy. She herself had been successful in giving herself Fox ears and a Tail, at one point. That sort of magic took alot out of a person, and to maintain ones own Identity while an animals was alot. She was concerned. "Oh, thats not good, that spell if its the one I am thinking she did properly but put none of the precautions in place, the longer she stays in that form the more kitty like she will think." Lily explained to her fiancee and the cat that was picking her way towards her.
Lily knelt and swept the Marley kitty up she was going to have to drop the Occulmency she practiced while in here to allow herself to use the spell needed to speak to her. A simple language charm would do it. She didn't like leaving her mind unprotected though. Especially recently. Still there was no help for it. She tapped her wand to her lips and gave it a good swish. There was a whisper of words and Marley's mews could be translated into words. It was the best she could do. Lily had tried to converse in the same fashion with some plants, but found they were rather boring, and wanted to talk about soil, sunlight, and how she got such lovely petals. Even upset Lily pet her gently. "How many hours have you been a cat Marley ?" she asked. Snowflake turned and slipped from the room, she had been peacefully sleeping on Severus bag when the whole incident had occured, she hadn't involved herself, because well, in short it wasn't her problem. Mrs.Norris however was, if she got after her girl, well Snowflake would beat her within an inch of one of her nine lives. Those were her two humans in the bathroom.

WALK BLINDLY TO THE LIGHT and reach out for his hand .don't ask any questionsAND DON"T TRY TO UNDERSTAND• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • With the wedding preparations that needed to be made, it wasn’t every weekend that Severus and Lily could just spend time together, whether they needed to look at patterns, look into this arrangement or the other, or outside of that there was the fact that the other circle Severus walked in wanted him to make an appearance from time to time, and that was something he had to pay attention to, it would not go well were he to neglect that. So when the two of them could take a moment to themselves, they were always going to take advantage of that. Not that the two of them needed to do anything big, the two of them were happy reading together, lying close to each other, spending time with Myrtle as they were now. It was true that one could get more out of a brick wall than they could out of Severus, he had his ways of closing everything away, compartmentalising everything that he did not need on the surface, it was what was behind his being as adept in occlumency as he was, that was something that he was relying heavily on, it was worth bearing the migraines for.
Severus looked after Lily as best as he could, with the snow Lily was perfectly welcome to his cloak and his robe, an extra layer, or something to keep her warm when she was recovering from having been caught in a flurry of it. She would give that back to him when it came to mind, he knew that. As for the shirt then he certainly didn’t mind, especially if it helped her to feel closer to him when they could not be together. People could think what they would about the relationship he and Lily had. As far as the Death Eaters were concerned, those who already had the Mark, he was doing something that was distasteful, in their minds, but necessary and he was just the one that had been in the position where it would increase his value in the eyes of the Dark Lord, due to what it could get him, the Dark Lord did know what was going on, he had since the spy idea had been brought up, Severus was safe in the knowledge that he was not provoking his ire. Others objected to it due to the lion and serpent thing, that was where a lot of the rumours had come from and frankly it was all rather petty. The truth of the matter was that Severus and Lily knew the truth and nothing else in the world mattered when all was said and done. It was true that he and Lily were opposites in nearly every way, that was what seemed to make it work in some ways, they were yin and yang with a little of the either left behind as they had brushed against each other and merged. They completed each other in ways that were necessary for the dark times ahead and the path that they would share. Lily and Severus were always going to behave in school, especially in Myrtle’s bathroom, it was proper in the case of the first and simply common politeness in the latter.
Severus had been as outwardly unflustered as ever at the intrusion of the two cats, at least once he had figured out that neither of them were Mrs. Norris. He tutted as Regit hissed at him, that really was not the way to get what one wanted. Still, he didn’t quite understand what was going on, so Severus cast a couple of shields, keeping Lily and the Marley cat safe from any sulky attack Regit might have it in mind to make and he silently cast the counterhex to the spell that had left him dangling up there. If Regit were to launch himself at Severus, well it would be simple enough to toss up another quick shield, at least there was no danger of being accused of kitty torture. He caught Lily’s whisper and nodded as he tried to figure out what exactly had happened. He and Potter had had a private war since day one, all Severus wanted at this point was to be left alone by him, it was all he had ever wanted, but he was not going to be a victim, he was done just sitting back and letting that happen to him, so Potter was in for a shock if he ever thought that Severus would not give back as good as he got, that was never going to be the case. When it came to Lily though, he would hold her, he would assure her everything was ok, he had grown up a lot since that incident two years ago, he was not going to let anything get in the way of what mattered again. It was true that Lily was about the one person that could make him blush, Severus did not deny that to her, she didn’t do it around others, or seek to, so that was all fine.
Severus had not quite meant to be funny, he would see where his comment might have been amusing later, here and now they needed to figure out what was going on. He nodded as Lily said she might have a charm for speaking with animals, he could guess that it might mean dropping her shields, it was a case of whatever it took to get the job done. He had guessed that Marley had cast a spell from a book not in general circulation around the school, and he knew what Lily was doing for Andromeda, he probably knew more than many about that girl given he was teaching her to close her mind, so two and two definitely made four in this case. He would have remarked that Marley was already very catlike before the spell had it not been so serious, instead, he let out a keen whistle, one that would carry to Othello if he were flying at all close by. He noted Snowflake slink out of the room, presumably on Mrs. Norris patrol, that was good, they might need to act fast, worrying about getting caught would be counterproductive. As Lily spoke to Marley, he said quietly to her, just loud enough for Marley to hear, “Ask her where she cast the spell.” A book flying around alone would cause problems, and Lily quite possibly needed that book for the counterspell, an owl carrying it would not be so risky as using the summoning spell and Othello had his boy’s talent for staying unnoticed, so there was no fear there.

It wasn't as if Marlene had woke up this morning and thought '' Oh I'll turn myself into a cat ''. None of it was thought out before hand. The sixth year was simply board and wanted to do something, anything. A bored Gryffindor was dangerous. Everything started out innocent enough. After her homework was done was when she got into trouble. Her friends, Lily and Severus, had things to do with the wedding and she respected that. It was their time, they had their mom's on them enough about it Marlene just tried to stay out of the way rather than push them either way. She like fall colors anyways, so aside from that she didn't know much. All this 'pea green' and 'sunshine yellow' she had to agree with Lily what were they thinking with these names? She'd heard worse, but honestly, whatever rock they'd been living under they needed to go back. What happened to the simple colors; like green, yellow, orange? Or Light orange, golden yellow.. heck vivid tangeriane. Okay that was a weird one, but that was one of Marlene's favorite shades of orange when it came to crayons. She was known too, to love the scent of crayons so much that she often carried a box of them around with her. Just a small one, because she loved the smell of them. '' Happiness in a box ''. There were a few times in her youth, before Hogwarts, that she'd eaten them. They weren't so bad honestly, dip them in a little peanut butter or other sugary confection and, delicious!
Though Marlene liked the way it smelled after the rain and the pounding flash of lightining and the rumble of thunder, she was rather catty in her dislike of water. So snowy days or rainy days she did her best to stay indoors, when she had to go out on those wet days, she moved quickly in and out of classes and between the grounds. Though she quite loved watching Quidditch, it was the movement that drew her eyes, she refused to go support her House on rainy cold or snowy days. She hid away in the Clocktower watching from a far, warmer distance. The ClockTower was a grand place, quiet all to herself. Plus that she could see the houses practice their moves, sometimes she even got a few fly-bys as Beaters or Chasers had to track down rogue balls Oh an what fun it was watching the Golden Snitch fly around. Though she like Lily shared a certian dislike of Potter, she did enjoy his playing still watching and waiting, then like a cat he sprang when he caught sight of the Snitch. But today no games were being played, nothing exciting going on, so it was that she made her own fun and got very deeply into mischif that she with her skills, or lack there off, couldn't get herself out of.
Now before Lily and Severus Marlene wondered if she was better off hoping the spell wore off on its own. But she was scared, and they were more advance in their years surely they could help her. She hissed at Regit as he got cross with Severus. Regit just looked down right scared and annoyed as he dangled there. She tipped her hed to the side at Lily's an Severus' words, they seemed to be quoting something she didn't quite follow. It was familiar enough. Looking up at Lily and Severus trying to look innocent and cute. Big blue eyes wide, it wouldn't help and she knew it 'the eyes' didn't work on them. Marlene looked a little more hopeful when Lily said she had a spell so she could understand her, but still she was worried all sorts of thoughts running in her head. Marlene cringed when Lily figured it out, her paws going over her ears. "No.. Lils I.." She trailed of and meowd pathetically though she was sure all her words were lost on her. As he friends talked she let one slowly slipped off as she listened quietly to her talking to Severus. Marlene blinked, "What?! No.. Lils.. I don't want to be a cat. Help please..." She begged still half cringing away from her friend. She still didn't know what she was saying, if she hadn't known what she was thinking, Marlene would have been just as lost as Lily and Severus.
In Lily's arms though, Marlene felt safer. She relaxed a little, but still gave Lily a '' Help me .. please '' look. Rubbing her head gently against Lily's hand she tried to say she was sorry. She purred a little dispite herself as Lily pet her, but still she was scared and a little worried. Watching Regit, Marlene didn't look relieved when he was let down, right now she was scared in of her own actions. She just hope Regit would leave her be. Blinking she thought a moment at Lily's question. "An hour.. two tops. It was fun at first.. but then I got tired.. an hungry and he started sniffing where he didn't need to. I don't want to be a cat Lily.. please.." She spoke, her voice sounded scared and sad. Thoug it did hold a light growl as she spoke of Regit. Sighing a little curled closer into Lily and tried to hide, she was shaking a bit in fear and worry. She looked at up at Severus behind a paw and answered him, "The Clocktower.." She murmered softly.

She said we got to hold onto what we got It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not.We got each other and thats all right for love we'll give it a shot Oh,we've got to hold on Ready or Not You live for the fight When thats all that you've got - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Lily understood that he had to make appearance and she also knew that she herself was being watched by some of the Death Eaters. She had talked to the Parkinson boy.He had treated her not bad, but not good either like she was some treasured pet. She figured that was better than having hexs tossed at her. It also gave her an added level of protection. Much as she disdained the idea or felt she didn't need the trouble from it. She wanted nothing to do with the wedding plans today, nothing to do with testing or homework. She just wanted to soak and listen to Severus read to herself, and Myrtle. She just wanted to relaxe and be near him today. There handfasting had made it so. She missed him when he wasn't present. She was really missing the weather, because she couldn't lean against him under a tree and just sleep. It was when she got the majority of her rest. She was sure that Marley hadn't woke up and decided it would be the best idea ever to turn herself into a cat. However, she was still a sixth year and should have known better than to keep trying when she didn't make it the first time. Now she was stuck as a kitty. Someday Lily would have to poke Marley for telling her daughter about peanutbutter and crayons. Since it would lead to a very upset Lily having to send a Patronus to her husband to help her get Lilith out of her magic closet.
It was far nicer to snuggle with him under his cloak than to be wrapped up in it all alone. Though for the most part that wasn't her intentions when she went out. Still she was expressive about her affection. She didn't need to prove it infront of a group of people but lately she had, had to do so. It wasn't uncomfortable to her she loved him pure and simple and any Death Eater with Legimency would be wise to stay away from her head given her warmth and general nature. Especially since holiday. He was likely to loose more than one shirt it wasn't like it wasn't for a valliant purpose. Keeping his wife to be happy when she couldn't slip from the Common's to be with him but had to sleep. As dreadful as it was to try.As far as the Death Eaters were concerned she wasto be wary of. Oh certain she had dirty blood, but her magic was not weak. That Lily was well liked by Slytherin's Head of House, and by the Headmaster was also an advantage. When all was said and done, it was the two of them. He'd asked her forever when they were little more than children and she had agreed with the childish agreement. They weren't children anymore and there promise was no longer just the heart wishes it was a fact. Given the golden glow that had surrounded them. There was also the fact if neither felt they could do it anymore the other would leave that life behind them and go. It was this very thing that neither the Order, nor the Deatheaters could understand. This war was fought by each person differently. Lily was aware of Marley's dislike of the weather, however for Lily it was almost a calling to her she felt the power of nature beating in her blood and in her veins. It was like the pulse of the world beat stronger in her. Lily would have liked Potter's playing just fine too if he hadn't waved at her and yelled "Hey Evans, This is For You at her before grabbing the Snitch. Oh some girls might have swooned, some girls was interested in Quidditch she couldn't get into it, and the little Snitch was the only interest Lily had in the whole game. She'd watch to be polite to her friends who were on the team but she couldn't get herself into it. She just couldn't.Lily had spent alot of years keeping her Dorm sisters out of trouble, she was growing up and would be a wife and maybe even a mother after school.
"Sev..." her concern was obvious in her voice as she spoke to him. The floating cat might try to jump him. She didn't think he would but one could never tell after all he had been silly enough to chase after Marley and not know his girl better. She felt the magic go up around her and while she wanted to fuss him for protecting her first and not him. It would be a mute point, Lily might have been a red head and have a temper. However, when Severus made his mind on any subject it was set. Since he hadn't placed a spell about himself Lily did it for him her wand flicked and the shield like much of her magic, apparently but deeply rooted was there around him. One would have to look very close to see it though. She had tried to help Severus with the James issue she had tried often but James had told her if she wanted him to stop picking on Snivillus that all she had to do was go out with him. Just one single date. It had actually made her smack James and run off she had burst into tears in about it when she told Severus later. He was the one she turned to when she was at her most upset and crying against his chest always soothed her. The rare times she actually wept. It was like Potter thought he could buy her. Own her with her loyalty to the boy she loved so he wasn't picked on.No, no matter what happened these days there would be no playing them against each other. The whole blushing thing was really not her fault. She was just being honest with him. Which likely had made it worse. Lily glanced down at Marley cat and sighed she really disliked bespelling herself, there was something inately wrong about pointing ones own wand and ones self. She whispered something and there was a small sprinkle at the end of her wand of lights nothing spectacular. She blinked her eyes and sighed. "I suppose I can understand you now..mind you I have only ever spoken to actual animals, not girls who've turned themselves into such. It can't be entirely different."
Lily heard a flutter and Snowflake poked her head back into the bathroom as though letting them know that Othello was present and accounted for. She than returned to her duty other ktty watching.Othello blinked at Lily who knew perfectly well where her friends hideouts were. "Get the book with the golden and green ribbons in the Clocktower for me please ?" she asked her gaze metting Othello's who tipped his head and than looked to Severus and back to Lily and bowed before taking wing again and out the door he went with the intention of getting the requested book. It wouldn't be hard for him to find or get. A owl traveling with a book through the halls was actually quiet normal. She knew that Severus hadn't meant to be funny, but if it weren't so serious than Lily would have laughed about it. She made a face and a groan followed after she told her how long she'd been affected. "Morganna!" she said with a sigh. "You do know that its harder to change back the longer your under, its not like being a animagus." she murmured. "An animagus shifts themselves by will alone. That spell is meant to allow you to hide away as an animal or sneak in some place. Technically you should have been able to end your own spell, but since you didn't actually know it only got lucky with it...if you can call it that." she held Marley close to her still petting her. "She could be in some serious trouble, normally its a spell not used for very long." He hadn't caught that from Lily's mind since she had been practicing with him along time and she had a good control on sealing her mind. Lily was certain she could shift shape but it was something she wanted Sirius about for. She shot a look at Regit and very clearly spoke to him in a manner he'd understand. "This is Marley you naughty boy, now behave yourself or I'll turn you into a cup until the charm is lifted off her." there was no joking in the red headed witches tone or eyes. She was very serious. This was serious.

WALK BLINDLY TO THE LIGHT and reach out for his hand .don't ask any questionsAND DON"T TRY TO UNDERSTAND• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Appearances were all important in the roles that Lily and Severus had cast themselves in, and they both understood what needed to be done. Fortunately, there was room within that that they were able to express how they did really feel, it did not matter that some people were led to believe it was a sham and there were those on the other side who quietly, or not so quietly, suspected it, there were only two people other than their parents who needed to know the truth and that was the two of them. Speaking of their loving parents, Severus and Lily had been quite put off wedding plans for the moment, they needed a weekend to themselves, certainly more possible than it had been recently given the slips of colour had finally stopped begging to be picked. So rest and recuperation were certainly on the agenda, certainly after the stress the slips had caused in class. Their handfasting had bound them together, promises had been renewed from their childhood and this time they were made in such a place and such a time, in front of such people that it had been made binding. They had always suspected that each completed the other, now it was true in every respect. Severus was sure that Marley hadn’t woke up and decided being a cat was a cool idea, but at the very least she had shown an incredible lack of sense to say the very least. She had found out that casting such spells without making the necessary countermeasures beforehand and she would be lucky if that lesson wasn’t a lasting one, of course he and Lily would do what they could.
Of course Severus never minded that Lily managed to take his cloaks, he minded even less snuggling with her under it. Very much like her, when they weren’t together, he wanted very much to be, that had been the case before they had handfasted, but now it was a need, something that they were not going to deny. They could not show the true extent of that in front of others, but they could certainly use the fact that they had certain expectations to their own advantage. Severus had enough shirts that Lily taking one just to have something of his near, to have a connection to him, was not going to be a problem to him. She needed her sleep, they couldn’t always be together just now, it was the way things were. In Severus’ line it had always been the magic that had mattered, whether or not to the Prince’s he didn’t altogether know though his mother owned Spinner’s End through her family so she hadn’t been left without a roof over her head, it certainly had not mattered to the Le Fays to which his mother’s line stretched back to the times muggles only knew to be myths. It was certainly not an issue to Severus whatever that one slipup said. She did have the magic as well, and that was why the Death Eaters were wary of her, playing with her was playing with fire, but it was a gambit the Dark Lord felt fit his plans, something that had been made clear, they would have to live with it. Even the Dark Lord did not know Severus’ true thoughts and he was the strongest leglimens in at the very least this generation, possibly the strongest there had ever been, so that was impressive. It was true enough that he and Lily were on each other’s side, they would do what they had to do, their first thought would always be to each other. They would see the journey as far down the road as they could together though, there would be no running from the battle as long as they both had their hearts in it. Severus was used to being out in all weather, Lily was always out in any weather as a girl and Severus had walked through the storms with her.
It would not have been a good idea at all to wait and hope the spell wore off, this was not some laughing charm that first years learned, it was in a restricted book for a reason. Magic had consequences if it were misused and that was all there was to it. Of course he had protected Marley and Lily before he had protected himself, in the case of the latter that would always really be the case. Of course, he appreciated the magic around him, he felt as safe in it as he had ever done in Lily’s embrace, however old the two of them were, so there were going to be no complaints or I could have done that myself regarding that. All Severus had wanted was for James to leave him alone, it was that simple. He had not thrown the first hex, he had hexed more than once but most often after having had to have thrown up a defence. However, he did not own Lily, and as much as he wanted to be left alone, he would never have pressed her to do what James had wanted her to. Lily was not a possession, Severus would never see her as one nor see her be treated like one. Some girls had nothing but being some trophy wife in mind, but that was not going to be Lily. Severus and Lily’s bond was something that only they themselves could break, had nearly broken only to rebuild it stronger for the experience, and that was something he would withstand whatever was thrown at him for. He had held Lily close when she had been upset about it, stroked her hair and said of course she shouldn’t bend to another’s will for his benefit. Oh Severus had no fear now, if now was just a little late, that even if Lily were to have that date with James she would be with him from then on, but it wasn’t about that. Lily was not a toy he could pick up and put down, he loved and respected her as he always had and that was the difference to James’ lust.
Othello had not needed telling twice what he needed to get, nor would he take long to get it. Severus was not going to joke around when it was a girl’s life as a two legged person believing herself to be one at stake. She might get a snide comment about it later, once it was sure that everything was ok, but her safety was the main priority. Othello was quickly back with the book and Severus caught the dropped leather bound tome, looking for the page as Lily still held Marley. He heard Lily curse, and had a wry thought about how Morgana felt having her name invoked in such a way, not that Lily hadn’t the right to given she had had the former’s blessing. He found the page that Marley must have cast the spell on and winced as he figured out in his own mind just what they were going to need to do for her. He tucked his hands into his sleeves for a moment, coming out with one of them holding a vial, “Pain relief, I figure someone is going to be lucky there’s a potion maker who gets migraines around the place.” It was the strongest that he drank himself when he still had work to do, there was another, smaller, vial beneath his robes but that left someone with only just more capability to function for the next few hours than his dreamless sleep potion. He brought a flask from his pocket, “And pumpkin juice.” Lily knew well enough that Marley would need it, the potion tasted vile, but then that was the case with all medicines that actually worked.

•• I've been looking in the mirror for so long •• ************
Come next year Marlene would be in trouble, that is if she ever go tout of this right now. She was scared for next year without Lily around but she'd be okay. She promised Lily she'd get out of her Clocktower. But right now she was happy as a cat, but that hadn't lasted just like most of her promises. That scared her greatly. A lot of things scared her, getting out of the Clocktower being around new people or even just around them freaked her out. Oh and rain! She liked it when she wasn't in it, but when she had to be out in the storm be it the rain or the snow she couldn't deal, she hated being wet. She only took a shower because she had to. Otherwise she was very catty in her ways and thoughts. There was everything else too, with the Order and all else going on. Even if she didn't really know what all of it was going on she still knew enough. Being quiet one would think she might know more but such was far from the case for a girl like Marlene she was so much the recluse it was easier to hide away.
Marlene was almost always in trouble it seemed. One way or another she always seemed to prove Severus' theory daily. Lily did a grand job keeping her out of trouble, but sometimes her catty nature and her apparent life-threatening idiocy got her into even more mischif wither she really meant to or not. Now was a very good example of that, she was a cat and with no knowledge of how to turn herself back she was very much in trouble.
Regit just wanted to get down at this point he hated hanging there. Cats were suppose to have all four feet on the ground, he didn't like this not one bit. It wasn't his falut he had never been know for his brains. To him the rusty red colored kitten was just that a girl kitten. He didn't know the difference. Though he did swat at Severus he was thankful to be down he crouch down with all his claws out ears low to his head. His fur was still frizzed out around over his body but making him look bigger than he really was. Marlene nodded at her friend mewing softly yet really just said nothing. "Can you?" She asked sounding hopefully, "Lils I'm sorry, I.. I wasn't think I just.. Lily I don't want to be a cat anymore!" She cried out mewing frantically hoping Lily could make sense of her words and meows. Honestly she didn't really know what she was saying, if weren't for her thinking the word she'd never know what she was saying just then.
She looked over her shoulder at the door when she heard Snowflake and Othello, heck she smelled them. Othello smelled good.. She twitched moveing closer to Lily, burring her face in her clothes. Marlene cringed when Lily cursed Morganna. "I"m sorry Lily.. really." She mewed tears brimming in her eyes. She looked between her paws at them both but still clung tightly to Lily's clothes. She didn't talk anymore for the moment just laying there at their side trying to relax it wasn't working. "I don't know how Lils.. I shouldn't have played with that kind of magic." She whimpered really crying now. Marlene didn't know what to do anymore they could help her. "Serious trouble? What.. no.. Servers, please no potion, pain relief, please I .. No!" She whimpered. "Why that? What do you hav to do?" She looked at him scared, "Please can we just skip to the pumpkin juice?"
Regit meowed at Lily from her to Marlene. But at the threat he looked scared. With a scared look in his yellow eyes he stuck his tail between his legs and ran off out of the bathroom. "Can he understand you?" Marlene looked shocked looking from her friend to her cat as he left.

She said we got to hold onto what we got It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not.We got each other and thats all right for love we'll give it a shot Oh,we've got to hold on Ready or Not You live for the fight When thats all that you've got - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - There were some things Lily would like to tell the others that they could do with there appearances. That was when she was in a red head temper. When that happened she'd have told the Dark Lord himself where to go and what to do when he got there. It was good that it was a rare, rare thing for Lily to get to that level of ticked off. Her mother on the other hand had refined her temper something she was still learning to do. Though she had to talk her out of doing things before that could have gotten her arrested. Not that she'd have cared at that point. Still they were able to still be together in public because the Death Eaters thought it all a ruse. The problem with this was..so did some of the Gryffindor's no matter that he had given that girl that had thrown herself at him a verbal lashing or not. Especially one James Potter. So Lily was happy to hide in Myrtle's bathroom and soak in the large sink tub she was in. Lily was glad that they hadn't had to pick out the tablecloth colors, all they needed was cloth floating behind them like ghosts, the real ghosts might be offended. The hand fasting had called upon old magic more than happy to unite the pair of them. A bit more deeply than either suspected but still welcome. It couldn't have been done had it not been willing by both of them. Now there was a subtle pull to be near him, something that sang in her very soul if one would believe in such things. While Severus might have been sure Marley hadn't woke up thinking it would be fabulous to be a cat, Lily had to wonder. Playing with any form of shape change was always going to be something that bore thought, it seems she disregarded the first rule of magic, to respect it. The Mckinnons were pureblood at that. At the very least Marley should have asked what it was for. There was little doubt that Severus and Lily could undo what Marley had done to herself in this instance. Severus had always been quiet good at undoing hexs. She suspected it came from dealing with the Marauders.
The biggest problem for all of them was Marley was a year behind them there wouldn't be much taking care of her. When Severus did return as a Professor to the school than it would be on different terms. He wouldn't be able to show favorites to her just because she was a family friend. It was something that had to be done . Marley was not dumb or she would'nt be able to pull the spells off. She just wasn't very wise she was curious and seemed to lack certain self preservation skills. Lily felt to blame for that, because if you messed with Marley than you were messing with her and that had taught her she had a shield to hide behind. Now that said shield would be graduating Marley was going to have to either sink or swim without her. Of course Mary was still there and would be Head Girl after Lily if she had any say in the matter. Lily liked Sev's cloaks they were much bigger than her and they made her feel surrounded by his presence even when he wasn't there to hold her. It could have also been the soft scent of Sandlewood which she identified with him. Severus had gotten progressively taller and she learned not to complain because than he grew an inch. It made his shirts long on her and she could wear them as a nightshirt and often she did. Ignoring the looks of her fellow dorm room mates. That the Death Eaters knew to be wary of her was no big surprise she'd almost immolated a girl right in front of them without lifting a wand. She was dangerous and if they thought Severus could control her it was an added bonus after all. In many ways this was just another storm the two of them were walking through together in the end it would always be the same. They would be there for one another. It was how it was.
She wasn't to fond of the idea of Severus letting Regit down since he wasn't the smartest kitten in the world of course there was that. He puffed up and Lily tipped her head to the side focusing on the kitten that would go right back up regardless of what Severus had just done if he did not behave himself properly. "Yes well, I don't want you to be a cat anymore either." she told her as she shook her head faintly. She glanced to Sev and nodded lightly. This was because Lily knew the longer she had been in the harder to be out. There was no part of her that wanted to try to explain to McGonagall how Marley had gotten the book that turned her. If they couldn't do it themselves. Marley was going to have to go to there Head of House. "I can only hope, and try..between Severus and myself I am positive we can." she murmured. It was something that Lily and Severus would simply always do, protect one another in a combat if a shield flashed up around her. One soon followed around him because it was how both of them reacted, putting each other over themselves in the same way they would place there children above themselves. James had been after her as long as Lily could remember, the fact that it had upset Severus that James fancied her to begin with had not made her reation towards the boy very favorable, the fact that he was little better than a bully and the way he'd acted on the train was not forgotten by her. Lily was concentrating on translating the mewlings of the kitty Marley and she pet her gently with her fingers rubbing her ears lightly. There would never be a date between Lily and James because one didn't do that to someone one was marrying and Lily and Severus were most certainly getting married soon. Might have been sooner had there parents, not decided to send them enchanted wedding plans.
Lily her wet hair placed behind her was still dripping wet down her shoulders to her waist. Still at least she was warm. Her eyes squinting as she made a face. "Marley your falling all over yourself." she murmured still petting her. "The magic you shifted your shape, and soon enough your mind will follow to suit the body. Haven't you ever read Transmutations Risks and Rewards ?" she figured she probly hadn't. It was one of the worries of acting instead of thinking. Lily nodded when Severus pulled the pain killing potion out. "Don't be sorry be cooperative. " she told her seriously. She nodded to the potion. "No matter how foul it might be you will be greatful for it." she said "What were going to have to do is shift you back. Normally a person has control of shifting and there shapes with magic, you on the other hand don't know how you did this. Lily swept over to where Sev was her robes whispering around her feet as she nodded to the potion. "I think that you will be glad for that." she said as she nodded to the potion. "Seeing as its like a bone regrowth because your body has to shift and reshape, I wouldn't do it with out a pain relief potion." She glanced down to Marley Kitty "I won't make you, but you'll be in a world of hurt if you refuse it." her tone ominous and warning. "And you have to be a girl again, as much as I'd hate to do it, we would restrain you if it was called for." her gaze went to Severus's and she made a bit of a face. "If we work together I am sure we can make it faster.." she told him. "Usually, when I have my ears it just tingles, but she's reshaped herself with out any practice." she sighed. "So what will it be Marley ?"

Severus did not like the fact that they had to keep up appearances any more than Lily did, it was not how he had envisaged his life going but then war throws a spanner in the best laid plans. However, Severus had a tight grip on his temper and he was teaching Lily how to control hers with the occlumency. He knew all about redhead tempers, he had been just conscious enough that he had heard what Rose would quite like to do to his father after he had been beaten so badly, and of course Lily and Rose shared their temper as rarely as he had seen it in either of them. Severus knew that it was the control he maintained that allowed this to work, it was something that hurt him, both with the migraines and in that only truly Lily could trust him. Lily’s occlumency was impressive for one who did not hide her emotions, as was the fact that if someone did get in they had fuzzy thoughts surrounding the important ones in any case, though Severus had a ready story if someone did get something that could be harmful from her, as little chance as there was, it could be attributed to he playing his role well. Of course, Severus was no stranger to Myrtle’s bathroom, though he and Lily still behaved as two students ought, despite their handfasting and their to be wed status. The handfasting had been deeper than he and Lily could ever have suspected, on every level, but given the place, the ceremony, the fact there were two practitioners of old magic and that Severus had possibly the oldest living practitioner in his line and she had come to say hi…well that was always a case of expect the unexpected. The McKinnons were a pureblooded family, Marley ought to have had more sense, she ought to have not got into that kind of sticky mess, and frankly Severus was wondering if they would have to visit the McKinnons and explain why their daughter now chased mice. Oh he could think that she didn’t wake up wanting to be a cat, but it was culpable idiocy and she was lucky that she was Lily’s friend, and had been his through that, being as he did not suffer fools gladly. Oh he could fix it, he had dealt with hexes and he was sure he knew the theory behind what they needed to do without the book, but it was always best to be sure with such matters.
Severus would not be able to show favourites, it would not be doing his job properly, nor would it be in keeping with his role with the Death Eaters and his greater role within the war, so Marlene could not expect an overabundance of help there. Really her best bet was Mary, given that Andromeda was leaving school a year early, something that Severus was sure she could do with her full set of NEWTs. He would do what he could, he always did and had helped here and there where there had been no one to catch him in the act, but he would not compromise the perception of his loyalties, something that would cause friction for a time later on. Severus could not help his growth spurts, that they had come at such a time as Lily has asked him if he ever intended to stop was not his fault in the slightest, but a not very funny biological joke. Still, that his cloaks were larger, and he wore them big for himself in any case, was good, especially as a comfort for Lily when they could not be together. He knew that she wore his shirts to bed, there was never any problem with this as far as he was concerned. Severus had been less than impressed with Regit swatting at him, Lily had raised a shield as he had done for she and Marley but that was beside the point. He would have lifted him up again were it not paramount to kitty torture and would certainly have been seen as such were they to be caught. That Lily had pretty much immolated a girl and why was not the best kept secret in the school, and it was all for the better, the Death Eaters knew that she was dangerous and believed that Severus had control over her actions, he was very careful in that regard, but so far his actions had not been questioned. If things fell apart then he would show his true colours, or he would towards the end which was more likely given how good the two of them were, but until then they both knew that they had each other.
Marley should really have gone to McGonagall long before now given she had only just found Severus and Lily, it was going to be harder on her now than any scolding would have been, but they were where they were and that was the end of it. Severus had been silly over James, and Lily had given him no reason to act the way he had, to almost lose her as he had. Perhaps they should have defined what they had, or perhaps a bump was a natural process given that their relationship had developed so quickly, that it had burned so hot, they were always going to be burned. He did not throw hexes, he merely defended himself if needed, but there was always going to be bad blood, especially as James was certain that Severus had bespelled Lily.
Severus listened to Lily’s side of the conversation and frowned, though he did not speak up straight away. Marley was going to be in unendurable pain, it was the price for messing with one’s own body and needing to be brought back in this manner, bones breaking, shifting, reknitting, it was akin to skelegrow only over a much shorter time and therefore all the more intense for it. As Lily said that she would not force Marley to take the potion, he cleared his throat, “Marlene Marie McKinnon, let me explain just what you are about to go through. Your bones are going to break, grow, realign and reknit. Every single one of the few hundred the human body contains, all at once. Your organs are going to grow and shift their positions to ensure they are in the correct place. Your fur disappearing is not going to be pleasant because there is a brief instant where what lies past the skin will be extremely exposed. This is a pain that you will never in your life forget. Lily might not force you to drink the potion, but I will and I can promise you that in terms of pain and a drink to chase it down after, you are very much going to prefer taking the potion right here and now.” He sniffed and awaited her answer on that through Lily, one way or the other, she was drinking that potion.

•• I've been looking in the mirror for so long •• ************
Normally Marlene was just to scared to have much of a temper, being shy and clinging only to certian people did that to a person. Only when it came to her truest friends, ones like Mary, Maggie, Alice and Lily. Of course Severus. The pair, Lily and Severus were her rock though, when they left at the end of the year it'd be hard. Marlene had a lot of promises to keep, about getting out of the Clocktower passing her O.W.L.S and a list of other things. With everything else her friends had on their plates with the wedding and the planning Marlene knew they bigger things to worry over than her. But being who she was curious and stubbonr she couldn't help it. Now she was stuck. This hadn't been on her mind when she woke up. She was simply bored and hyper. Both of which faded quickly becomeing fear and hunger. Somethings didn't change.
The year difference never scared her until now, but it was on them it meant they were leaving and she was stuck here. Before the age difference was a good thing. It meant the older students wouldn't mess with her because she had older friends looking out for her. But now Marlene was on her own. Though she'd be a seventh year that didn't mean much. Younger years still picked on her, she as just that shy no-one believed she was older. She hardly looked it really. Though she'd gotten taller and 'filled out' a bit she acted still like a child. Right now today was very childish and likely one of the stupider things she'd done if not 'the' stupidest. Pureblood meant nothing, apparently Marlene was hiding when common sense was passed out. Because apparently she'd missed it. Now she was a cat and not totally sure what she was thinking and even if she had all she knew was that she had to become human again.
Regit was please to be back down and on his own four paws, once on the ground after a bit protest he sank to the ground quietly. Marlene watched him but said nothing only moving closer to Lily. "Lils... please I'm scared..." She mewed pathetically. Marlene wasn't keen on going to McGonagall either. She didn't seem to like her, the older woman was always pileing on the homework. "Don't hope... just help." She mewed softly. Suddenly then a moth flew past her and she looked up at it with a very intense cat like look. Tenseing with one paw she reached up swatting at the moth managing to catch it on her claws. "Wow..." She breathed clealry in shock by that. Some part of her knew she should be scared, but she was far more amuse by the flapping of the moth on her claws. She hardly paied much attention to her friends stareing at her paw clearly more amused by that than she was even them just then.
She blinked looking up at her friends letting the moth go it squirmed and dropped to the ground in a tight circle. She peered over Lily's arm watching it fall. She didn't speak yet she was just quiet watching them. Listening to their words now but already her mind was slipping more to the feline thoughts. "No.. I didn't get that assignment." She said lightly. Squirming she looked at Severus those potions always made her squirm even when they weren't for her. Potions tasted horrible and now she had to drink one now, she wasn't pleased. As Lily spoke and moved Marlene clung to her, mindful of the claws but let her paws wrap tightly around her friend's arm. As Severus full named her she hid her face in Lily's arm "You sound like my dad when you do that.." She squeaked out. She shuttered as they both discribed how bad it would feel. She mew patheically but nodded lightly "Okay.. I'll drink it.. but couldn't you mix them together? Would it taste better? Or.. fine.. fine, just give me the potion but have the juice ready please?" She asked giving her friends 'the look'. Her human senses coming back to her enough then but her mind was slipping more and more feline.
