•• I've been looking in the mirror for so long •• ************ The soft tick-tock of the clock was Marlene's ears as she sat in the Clocktower. Since her first year it had always been her favorite hiding place. To go just to think, or be alone. She was a shy girl most of the time and she was quite okay with that. She didn't have many friends aside from the furry kind. Lily and Serverus she was closest too. And him only because Lily seemed quite attached to him and he to her. Marlene had nothing against Severus at all, he was quite perhaps a little 'dark' and rough around the edges but all in all he was a nice guy when he wanted to be. So for the most part that had been the extent of her friends, but when it came to the four legged or the furries she had plenty. There was her orange tabby, Regit and the mice around the tower and grounds. She'd even befriend most of the owls in the Olwery and even a few bats in the Clocktower.
Marlene had been up here all afternoon, and in fact had missed her last class quite by accident. Even with the clock face right in front of her and her pocket watch in her robes she'd lost track of time simply enjoying the silence and the antics of her kitten. Missing one class, though she'd missed others because she spaced out, still she'd survive, she was acing that class anyways. Missing a few here and there wouldn't matter, just so long as a prefect didn't catch her. Some days she just needed a break. As much as she loved Hogwarts she was looking forward to her last year, yet dreading it too. Other than joining the Order she didn't much have a plan for herself. She was still young there was time to decide to told herself and her parents.
The sun had been high in the sky when she came up here. But as she sat up there in he usual on the ledge, behind the clock face, just watching from time to time and working on her assignments time flew by and the sun lowered slowly. She sighed, totally bored, she had been staring at her DADA book for far to long. She was seeing things in her head that didn't quite sit well. Slamming it shut she threw it to the floor. Regit jumped and the bats squeaked lightly. "Sorry guys.." She said softly. Regit mewed at her and went back to his vain attempt to catch a bat. They were onto his games, and well aware that he wasn't able to get where they were. But still everyday, he tried. Never quite managing to jump high enough or climb the wall to get to them. They chattered at him in a language neither he or Marlene understood. But whatever they said annoyed Regit and made her giggle. "For nearly seven years you've tried Reggie.. you can't make it kitty sorry." She laughed as he tried yet again to leap up to grab at a rafter or a bat anything. Even when the bats swooped low as of to taunt him he was never quick enough.
Looking out once more on the grounds she sighed, the sun was setting quickly it was almost below the horizon. Lighting the sky a blaze with oranges, yellows, golds, reds and pinks. All mixed and swirled together with the twinkling stars of the coming nite. Then as if on cue the squeaks filled the clocktower as the bats rose flying out into the nite sky through openings in the building, Regit jumped up mewed and hissed trying without success to get them. Marlene laughed watching him, "Regit aside from sprouting wings you will never catch them." She laughed still amused by it all the same. ************ That I've come to believe my soul's on the other side.. •TAG• Lils•WORDS• 666•WEARING• Floral shirt ^ -above- ^ with jeans and Gryffindor robes. but nothings greater than the rush that comes with your embrace •AND IN THIS WORLD OF LONELINESS I SEE YOUR FACE • yet everyone around me thinks I'm going crazy
The winding steps up to the ClockTower of all the Places in the Castle the Astronomy Tower aside this one had the best view. Lily had been taken with coming up here as a younger girl and sitting and watching things go by when she wasn't feeling well, but not feeling bad enough to go see Pompfrey. A good book and a transmutated blanket around her. Still this wasn't the reason that she was up in the Towers today, no it was because Marley had returned to school but she had missed classes. She knew the girl was shy and somewhat whimsical and might forget to get her butt to class when needed too. So she held her messenger bag with the homework Marley had missed. Almond shaped green eyes traced the shadows of the place. Like a doe she tipped her head to the side to see if she could detect sound. Nothing but the bats that were upstairs made any sound there high pitched squeeks made Lily smile faintly. She was fond of animals, and she was loved by the Monster Book of Monster, the book used for Care of Magical Creatures. She was still carrying two of them. Her's and Severus's since he was reluctant to even touch the thing since it had bit his ankle and chased him across the bathroom, much to Myrtle's glee.
Her red hair was done up in a messy bun to keep it from her eyes. Clipped off with small flowery clips that she'd gotten for Christmas that year. It was only a question of how long they would last. Since fingers in her hair often dislodged the restraints and she lost them. She had not had five minutes to sit down today. There had been one of the first years stuck to the step in the staircase and Lily had to rescue the little boy who had been scared. She remembered what it was like being a first year. The Castle was large and magical but also intimidating when your that small. Not that Lily was a tall gifrl herself. Than she had to rush to Ancient Runes on top of that she had missed lunch too. She was sure she was missed by the normal crowd but she was off saving the world one person at a time as she saw it.
She heard Marley's voice before she saw her and that made her smile faintly she was talking to the kitty that she'd had with her since the start of the year. Lily didn't bother to call to the other girl. Technically she could have lost House Points for not coming to class. However with the whole mess with less students returning the teachers were being a little more lienient there was so much going on and so much on everyone's plate as it stood. Lily herself was firmly in the Order of Phoenix camp. She knew that it was where she could help the best. There was also the thing of playing go between for Severus and Dumbledore understood what was going on and why they were doing it. It was just hard. The fact Severus already took the mark did indeed distrub Lily not because of how it looked she held no fear of snakes or skulls, and she had not problem seeing it, it was just something that wasn't pleasent to dwell on. So she had her head full of so much stuff, it was good that she had been learning Occulmency from Severus for a bit. It allowed to order them and keep her mind calm.
"Interesting that if you really wanted to help him catch one, a simple Leveosia spell would work." she called to Marley as she stepped into the room. In her arms Snowflake didn't look like she was soon to get down she liked riding close to her human. All the better to protect her and know what she was up to with. Lily supposed or maybe there was hopes that she was going to stop and see Othello. Lily could never tell not really. "That or catching them in tree's out in the yards." she added as she sat her bag down at her feet and held out a few scrolls. "Your homework, Miss.McKinnon!" she said with a chuckle. "And so you know you are stuck in the Dorm with an upset stomach, and nerves." she told her making a face. "You really need to mind time and classes you know Marley." he jovial tone fading as she settled onto one of the window ledges to look at the other girl. "So are you okay ? I mean really okay and not the normal oh yes I am fine Professor thank you for asking." she said strait forward as always. Fishing in her bag for cookies which she offered Marley. "You missed lunch, so I nabbed some cookies and a cup of soup, I hope it help up." she made a slight face as she set it out beside her.

•• I've been looking in the mirror for so long •• ************
The winding steps Marlene loved, it was like steping into another world for her. She'd come up here first with Lily her first year. Now she just came up here to get away. To think and be around just to her thoughts. The bats and antics of her kitten wasn't so bad either. Quite honestly to day she was just tired and the soulitude up in the ClockTower was to much to pull herself away from it. Perhaps it came alot from her shy nature, just wanting to be alone. Aside from the few 'human' friends she kept she wasn't one to jump into a conversation with just anyone. Like today, she just wanted to be alone, but that left her to miss classes. She hadn't ment to honestly, she only missed one class, or thought. Might bave been two. It was okay, she'd survive. Marlene didn't really pay much attention to anything else, so Lily's steps were lost to her, she was content watching Regit and the bats play their little game. It wasn't a lie the Monster Book of Monsters kind of scared her a bit. But she managed not to get bitten, most of the time. She knew Severus hadn't been quite so lucky. Poor guy, she never talked about it or laughed. She'd be apprehensive around it too she managed. She'd even managed to befriend Myrtle. At least enough to know how to not get the girl crying. She was sweet though and her laugh was cute.
Her brunette hair, when down pooled just at her shoulders but today, it was up and spiked out a bit a little tom-boy in style but she didn't care. She was never for the totally girly girl style. But loved dresses as long as they weren't frilly overly pink. No that was the kiss of death to her. Mixed with other colors fine, but not just pink. Just as she was never into really long hair. She knew all to well Regit's attraction to anything that moved. That included hair, if it was swishy or moved he liked it, being shiny was good too. She knew the kitten, and knew it best not to tempt the silly boy. Just like it wasn't good to taunt First Years too. They'd all been there once. Thankfully for her she'd managed not to get into to much trouble, getting a few friends quick enough. Safter that way, saved her from being hung upside down by her anlkes from one of the many towers on the grounds.
Regit had been just a kitten Marlene's first year, only just eight weeks old. He was older now, but still retained the kitten nature about him. Playing and pouncing on everything he could get his paws on. Marlene was well aware that she could lose house points if she got caught, but also knew right now things were a little less strickt. Everyone already sides, from the Order to the Dark Lord's growing followers. Marlene had nothing against all of it, but she hated the fight already. She aspired to be in the Order. Though honestly she wasn't sure why. Maybe because she knew she wasn't the type the Dark Lord would want. Which was fine with her, she wasn't at all interested in being in with him either. She didn't know Severus had 'taken the mark'. Marlene trusted him and Lily so it was no questioning either of them.
Jumping slightly at the voice, she sighed an smiled lightly laughing, "I know, Lils. Just more fun watching him try. An' no.. I really don't want him to." She replied. Regit looked up at Lily with a kitty smile. He mewed to her in greeting. "Hey Snow." She said to Lily's cat. Regit was affectionate too, but when there were things to be chased all interest in being petted was forgotten. "If he ever caught him he wouldn't know what to do with it." She laughed. Then blushed a little at her friend. "Thanks.. Miss Evans, I owe you one." She laughed again as she took the scrolls fro her. "Stomach ache.. okay Thanks the heads up." She nodded and frowned lightly. "I know, I'm sorry I just lost track of time. Good thing I have a friend like you to look out for me though eh?" Marlene told her. She really hated putting Lily on the spot but she was glad she had her back. She smiled lightly at her when Lily asked how she was. Shrugging lightly, "Just tired, and kind of thinking about everything going on." She replied. Watching Lily she looked a little confused at first then smiled at the cookies. At the sight of them her stomach growled a little. She hadn't realized how hungry she was until then. "Lunch? Wow, how many classes did I miss today?" She asked as she tried to think how long she'd been up here.
